My favorite Smoothie

I don't know about you, but I'm the kind of cook that always follows a recipe. Sure, I might substitute a thing or two based on need, but I usually don't cook using my own made-up concoctions!

Lately this has begun to bother me. If everyone one else can make up food on the fly, why can't I?

Well, of course I can! And it can be fun! Here is my first totally made up recipe, called "My favorite Breakfast Smoothie". It's not a culinary genius, and probably someone else has thought of it, but I am proud. :)

It all started out with a craving for a smoothie. Only, smoothies usually have strawberries and stuff. I didn't have any of that, so I made a peanut butter and Nutella smoothie, with almond milk and a stray banana thrown in to balance the flavor.  That's it. And it's good, too; as long as you don't use a unripe banana like I did once. (my mouth and nasal passages are still recovering). Anyway, without future comment:

  • 3ish cups almond milk

Hope you like it! What would you put in a breakfast smoothie?

Angel is always concocting new blended drinks. We used to use milk and sugar in our smoothies, but like you pointed out, bananas are the perfect solution for meeting the need of sweetness and creaminess. Our latest favorite drink isn't a smoothie, it's mint strawberry blended ice limeade, that he makes from blending ice cubes with lime juice, fresh mint leaves from our yard, and chopped berries--it's so good when it's blisteringly hot outside!

Hahahah..Nutella...that's the secret good ingredient. I think the best smoothie making place is Jamba Juice. Orange Julius kind of suck a little. I see them add actual fruits, but I think they do add high fructose corn syrup.

Nowadays I try to blend mixtures that are light and tangy as compared to thick, sweet, and heavy. I guess those heavy ones are good for winter time.
