I'm writing a novel!

So guys, I've been trying to figure out what my next step is--what I want to do. I thought expanding the shop, or starting a video series, or something--but I keep getting stuck on my old dream of being a published (even if its self-published) author. I want to write a book.

Now, I've tried several times in the past to write a book. I always fail. So I decided to try something different. This time I'm giving myself 6 months, and a goal of a page a day. I'm not going to edit the book until February. I'm not going to go back and reread and get stuck. And I'm not going to give up. For better or worse, I am going to write a book.

So, whats this book going to be about? Not sewing this time, like my E-book. It's going to be a fantasy novel. I've already started on it, the main character is male. Sadly, I won't be able to post excerpts on my blog, I don't want someone stealing it.

But I'm really excited. If I can actually write a book, I plan on writing one every year. The first one I know is going to be the hardest. I've never finished anything.

What does this mean for the blog? I'll probably be posting every other day now. The one page rule is just the minimum, I actually hope to finish this thing earlier.

I'm praying every day that I can actually do this.

As someone who has finished a novel (for better or worse), I found that the best thing I could do was to re-read as little as possible and just to write. I find if I edit as I go that I get extremely discouraged.
So, go for it Kitty-Ears! And if you need someone to proofread it, I'm available. :)

This is wonderful! I wish I could write a book. I read excessively. But that doesn't seem to make me more creative.

Go for it! I decided a long time ago that whatever my specialty in writing is...it's not novels, because I don't have the attention span, and when I do think of a fictional plot, it's much more suited to a short story. This is a great goal to set for yourself!

A word goal really helps. Last year I did the National Novel Writing Month challenge and it got me out of a procrastination funk. I have several posts devoted to it in November and December of 2012 on my blog.

I also decided recently to self-publish and I'm really impressed so far with how easy the process is. http://www.typativemamacat.com/2013/07/i-did-it.html I'm doing ebook and print on demand.

Pray over your goals - make them reasonable but challenging! And then stick to them. The words are already inside of you. It's just a matter of sitting down and writing :)

And yes, don't edit until February!

Nice to meet you - and best of luck on your book writing journey :)
