Living without Internet

One of the things Brian and I discussed as we were making our marriage plans was the place the internet would play in our lives. It wasn't a long discussion, and we both decided not to purchase a wireless internet plan for our home.
What? You may think--Live without internet? Yes. We are going to live without an internet connection in our home.

Brian already has been living without internet for about a year, a choice he made because he works with computers all day and usually is in the office for 10+ hours. He just didn't use the internet at home, therefore he realized he could easily save 40 dollars a month by canceling that.

When we became engaged he asked me if I wanted/needed an internet connection in our home because of my etsy business. I thought about it, but decided not to have him purchase one. And here is why:

1) Because Brian and I do not have internet, we are able to spend a lot of quality time together NOT staring at a computer screen. That is not to say we don't watch movies, because we do (usually anime) But we do more outside things and talk more. I don't want to loose that!

2) I realize that I spend a lot less time "mindlessly browsing" the internet. In order to get online and update the blog I have to get dressed and go out to a coffee shop or internet cafe. No more hours in my PJs sitting in front of my laptop. Now I go out and meet people and get my business done quickly, and I get coffee to boot!
3) I get things done. Let me say it again. I get things done! Yes, really. I find more time for sewing and less time pinning things I want to sew. For someone who wants to eventually start her own full-time business sewing, this is invaluable!

What, you may ask, does this mean for the blog? Nothing much, expect I will have to plan posts better! Never fear, this blog is here to stay for awhile yet...

*Now, dear readers, both B and I have iphones with a small internet plan. We use this to check up on everyday things, but because of the limited data connection we don't spend a whole lot of time on them. They are mostly for emergencies.

What do you think? Could you live without internet?

I don't know if I could live without the Internet but I could definitely stand to.
