What is your source that tells you Mormonism rejects that? I appreciate that you did research when writing your blog post, but truthfully you did not do enough of it.

Truthfully, most Mormons (myself included) don't really care whether we are accepted into the clique that is American Evangelical Christianity. I normally wouldn't comment on this, but I feel that you are misrepresenting me and my religious tradition. I don't care whether you feel that, in your estimation, I am not allowed to self-identify as a Christian. But I do care that you are not posting accurate information on something that turned up in my pinterest feed.EC Bucknoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7545545571343273883.post-76585601424952586912013-07-20T09:48:30.134-04:002013-07-20T09:48:30.134-04:00I do have a limited understanding of Mormon doctri...I do have a limited understanding of Mormon doctrine. However, I did leave out that some Mormon's believe in multiple wives, because I know this is something that many do not. My Mormon friend does not believe in hell. He says that is what he taught. And when I researched what Mormons believe about hell I did find that a majority do not believe that good people will go there, even if they are not Mormon. It seems to say that they just won't be able to become Gods of their own. Anyway, I did do a fair amount of research when writing this. And I do know that many Mormons do believe some of what Christians do--but that's the difference. You can't reject that Jesus is the son of God and was born of a virgin and be a Christian. Just believing in some of the tenets still makes a Mormon a Mormon and a Christian a Christian. I do know there are many different interpretations--that's why I tried to choose the most common, most fundamental basic building blocks of Christianity as a starting point, and why I said what I said in the end, that this was by far not an exhaustive list, and that I was aware that other interpretations existed. I tried to be logical, but I know I have a very fluid mind and debating does not come naturally to me. But I do want to learn. I do not believe a Mormon should use the term christian when speaking of themselves, because of how different their doctrine is, no matter that they pick and choose some pieces and believe in those.Carolynnhttp://kitty-ears.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7545545571343273883.post-48532144258795361412013-07-19T16:35:20.504-04:002013-07-19T16:35:20.504-04:00I think you are quoting Mormon and Biblical script...I think you are quoting Mormon and Biblical scripture out of context, cherry picking verses from the former that contradict the latter and ignoring those that don't support your thesis. I usually enjoy reading your blog, but in this case I think you are way off due to the limited understanding you have of Mormon doctrine, not to mention the history of Christianity. Your definition of "Christianity" covers only Protestantism. What of
Coptic and Eastern European sects that firmly teach theosis?

For example, Mormons DO, actually, believe in original sin - the belief is that Adam's fall necessitates the atonement of Christ.

I have to wonder at your motivation for posting something that blatantly ignores all the common beliefs Mormons share with mainstream Christianity. Mormons believe in the Second Coming, the Bible as the word of God, the resurrection and ascension of a Divine Christ. While others may applaud you, I do not.EC Bucknoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7545545571343273883.post-47694076331126614552013-07-18T22:58:17.528-04:002013-07-18T22:58:17.528-04:00Thank you for outlining these differences. It doesn't mean that wasn't a sin. Mormons definitely do believe in hell. Also we believe the Book of Mormon is an addition to the Bible. We don't only read the Book of Mormon. I feel like sometimes they get lumped together by others because both Christians and Mormons are generally seen as being "conservative".Rachel Ghttp://www.therandomwritings.com/noreply@blogger.com
