How I Shop at Goodwill

how to shop at goodwill
I buy 90% of my clothes from Goodwill. People are always asking me where I get my sweater from, or my dress, and when I tell them I bought it at a thrift store, they usually say something like:
How do you find anything in that place? I can never find  anything worthwhile in all that junk!
To which I respond by telling them exactly how I peruse Goodwill, and find amazing things...all the time. Usually they roll their eyes. I never understand it.

Anyway, now I'm going to tell you how to shop at Goodwill. ^_^
  1. Go early. No, really! I go to Goodwill usually within 1-2 hours of them opening. This means everything isn't picked over. Now, they do put things out continually all day--so you can get lucky at any time--but I go early. Why is this essential to finding good items? First of all, in the morning their are usually no crowds. Also, everything they put out last night and before they open is still fresh on the shelves. I'm the first person that gets to see it.
  2.  Go frequently. I visit all the Goodwills in my area every week. You may think I'm crazy, but I'll just point you to my wardrobe of amazing pieces that I've collected for a fraction of the cost. Not to mention the resale value of many things I've found, but couldn't wear, or tired of wearing after one season.
  3. Go down every isle. This is non-negotiable. I go down every isle and look at every shirt. That way I don't miss one.
There you go! Put these four things into practice and I'm sure you'll be fashion-forward in no time.

(Seriously, some of the things I find there I can't believe other people just gave it away. Eh, one man's trash is another man's treasure, I guess ^_^)
